Mechanical Design Engineer – Surface Modelling

Main responsibilities:

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of consultants and support our client, a machine manufacturer. The key responsibilities of this person would be to:

  • Design and optimize diesel engine components, assemblies, and systems, considering technical, scheduling, and financial aspects, with a focus on cost-effective solutions aligned with customer requirements.
  • Utilize CAD systems for 3D drafting of components and assemblies, including surface modeling for casting parts.
  • Create and revise 2D drawings incorporating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Develop 2D and 3D visualizations to clarify technical content and contribute to the creation of technical presentations.
  • Perform basic component calculations using Finite Element Method (FEM) or analytical methods.
  • Manage Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tasks, including Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and lifecycle promotion.
  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams within the project environment.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design integrity.
  • Collaborate with component suppliers to clarify technical properties and engage in common component development through co-design.
  • Contribute to Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

 

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed studies (university / technical college) in the field of mechanical engineering / automotive manufacturing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Creo surface modeling design (casting parts)
  • Windchill knowledge is a plus
  • Fluent in English, French or German is necessary
  • Swiss (or valid Swiss permit) or EU nationality
